For volunteers

You’ve been asked to help.
Here’s what to expect.

Exhibity is the online record an art organisation uses to run its exhibitions. Someone there has asked you to take on a volunteer role, which is why you’ve had—or are about to have—a short email asking you to sign in.

Getting started

Someone at the organisation switched your access on.

Access to Exhibity has to be granted by someone at the organisation—its administrator, or whoever is running the exhibition—before you can sign in. That’s what the email is: a sign that your role has been set up and is waiting for you.

There’s nothing to arrange on your side beyond that. No form to fill in and no details to provide—just sign in using the email address the invitation was sent to.

The volunteer roles

A light tour—one line each.

These are the operational roles a volunteer might be asked to take on. Each applies to one exhibition at a time, not a standing commitment.

01

Rota

Matching volunteer availability to sessions, if your organisation delegates this rather than the exhibition administrator doing it directly.

02

Receiving

Checking artwork in as it arrives.

03

Curation

Deciding what goes where, hanging the show, and producing the printed labels.

04

Sales

Running the desk while the exhibition is open, including handing buyers what they've bought.

05

Collection

Returning unsold work to artists once the exhibition closes.

06

Payout

Handling what's owed to artists once the show closes.

After you sign in

Nothing more is needed from you.

Once you’ve signed in, the organisation finishes setting up your role. It will be ready and waiting the next time you sign in.
